The Oak Lodge is located on Kineo Island in the largest freshwater lake in Maine. Moosehead Lake is located in central Maine about fifty miles from the Bangor Airport. You first can see the lovely 40 mile long lake as you drive into the quaint town of Greenville, Maine. A ferry service in Rockwood Maine is the primary means to access the Island.

• Autos - Cars are not allowed on the Island. You may enjoy the quiet experience of the Island on foot, bike, or by golf cart. Parking for your vehicle is free at the Marina in Rockwood.  You can rent a golf cart by the day on Kineo.
• Ferry Service -  The ferry runs from the Rockwood Marina to Kineo hourly during the peak summer months.  There is a fee to ride the ferry. 
• Airport - The Bangor Airport is an easy airport to fly in and out of. Rental cars are available. They also have a large onsite hotel for late arrivals. Below is a great travel site for booking tickets or just to find out information on your destination.

• Groceries and Provisions - Greenville and Rockwood both have grocery stores.  The picture is a tiny shop on Kineo Island that stocks hiking provisions like water and granola bars.  The Oak Lodge is in the background to the right.

• Getting to the Oak Lodge:

  Driving to the Oak Lodge from the Bangor Airport - This is very easy (three turns!).  As you drive out of the airport, you are on Godfrey Blvd.  At the second light, turn left onto Union Street.  Make a right at the next traffic light, Griffin Road.  Turn left on Broadway which is Highway 15. take Hwy 15 to Greenville (last reliable cellular reception until the island).  Continue on Hwy 15 through Greenville towards Rockwood.  A few miles past the welcome sign you will see a large flying moose sculpture on the right hand side of the road.  Just past that the roadway forks.  Take the right fork downhill into the Rockwood Marina.  Take the ferry at the Marina to Kineo Island.  Drive time from airport is around one and a half hours.

Driving to the Oak Lodge from the south - The Oak Lodge is about five hours north of Boston, MA, up Highway 95.  From 95 you will exit in Newport, Maine at exit 157 (ME-11/ME-100) .  You will turn left onto ME-11.  Go six miles and turn left onto ME-7.  Go eight miles and turn left onto ME-23.  Go eleven miles and turn left onto ME-15.  Take this for 46 miles to Rockwood Maine. Stop at the marina and catch the ferry to Kineo Island.
